Wayne County man wins $5.42M jackpot of Michigan Lottery

A guy from Wayne County had some extra cash, and now he has a lot more after just winning the $5.42 million Lotto 47 jackpot.

The winner of the big prize on September 28 matched all six of the numbers drawn: 02-05-14-30-32-42.

The winner, a 69-year-old man who preferred anonymity, purchased his ticket on the Michigan Lottery website.

The winning ticket is the second-largest reward ever won by an internet ticket buyer.

Behind just two previous players who won $5.75 million grand prizes while playing the Lucky for Life game.

The winner stated, "I enjoy playing online and had roughly $280 in my account from a previous victory.

Recently, the winner went to Lottery headquarters in Lansing to pick up his award.

Instead of the annuity, he chose to receive the funds as a one-time lump sum payment of around $3.8 million.
